about

The debut album from the six-piece jazz-funk band fronted by classical soprano Penelope Homer and saxophonist/composer Ben Donnelly bringing original songs and tunes bridging the gap between innovation and accessibility in jazz, while drawing on outside influences as varied as pop, hip-hop and Irish traditional music.
Platonic Curry formed in 2011 performing their own take on jazz-funk in venues across London, their primary goal being to present music that is both fresh sounding to experienced ears and accessible from the outset to anyone who has never explored jazz music before. “Don’t Buy The Sun” is a collection of original, songs and tunes, some of which date back to the band’s earliest performances, as well as a cover version of Arletty’s “Coeur de Parisienne” first heard in the 1932 film “Un Chien Qui Rapporte”.
